Electric Floor Heaters

Electric floor heaters have become quite a luxury for home owners over the years and have proven to be quite cost effective. You can save on your year round heating bills and enjoy warm floors all year round. Deciding on your electric floor heating system can be a difficult task. First you have to decide how much money you are looking to spend and find the manufacturer of your choosing. Then you must consider whether or not you want in floor or under floor heating systems.

Underfloor Heating Systems

Installing electric heating cables allows you to lay them out in a configuration, while loose cables require actually taping them to the floor to secure them properly. Loose cables are very time consuming and can cause the spacing to be inaccurate. If this happens you risk the chance of having to much or possibly too little cable left when you are done. Though heating cables are great for your smaller areas, such as kitchens or bathrooms, overall they can be difficult to work with when covering larger areas in your home. In this case you may opt for the electronic heating mats, which are pre-spaced and secured by a mat backing.

Infloor Heating Systems

Infloor electric heating systems are also easy to install and can be put under multiple type of flooring. This is best done when changing your floor covering or tile or if you are adding a new room to your home. Here you can purchase one thin continuous cable heating element that is woven into a mat that you install under your tile. This can be a good project if you are looking to warm your entryway or kitchen floors, or bathrooms. Besides being easy to install, it is also safe and inexpensive to operate. The downside to infloor heating systems is that it can not be fitted under existing tile floors.
